Juan Talks: Kingkim Beach and Bato Buri in Burias, Glan, Sarangani Province

If you think Gumasa's beautiful sand beaches in Glan, Sarangani Province, are the towns only tourist attractions, wait till you see what we've recently discovered. Beyond Gumasa is Bato Buri, a hidden gem reached via the KingKim resort in Barangay Burias, about 20 kilometers away. It isn't lavish, but it will definitely bring you closer to nature and let you appreciate God's gifts to Sarangani.

How to Get There:

• I·f you’re driving, go to Glan and take the road to Gumasa. Head on to Barangay Burias 20-km away. On the right side look out for the signage that says Burias Beach or Mingkat Gampal Elementary School.

• For those who are commuting, take the van to Glan from Veranza Mall. Drop off at the Terminal in Poblacion Glan. From there look for a motorcycle that will take you to Burias. Fare is usually Php 100.00.

• There are also big trucks that head straight to Margus. Their terminal is at Lagao Public Market, General Santos City. You may ask to drop off at Burias and take a motorcycle ride from Brgy. Burias to Kingkim Beach.

Expected Expenses:

• The beach at Kingkim isn't nearly a full-service resort. There are no rooms available for overnight stays. Instead, they have open cottages, and guests who want to remain overnight are encouraged to bring their own tents.

• Entrance is only Php 30 for day visits and Php 50 for overnight stay. Cottages are also available for rent Php 300 for daytime and Php 500 for overnight stay. You can bring your tent and pay Php 80 per tents space.

Important Note:

It is important to note that Kingkim Beach is owned by a Muslim family. As a sign of respect, please do not bring pork to the beach. You can bring fish and other food, except pork. Liquor is also prohibited in the beach. A friend of mine asked to bring lechon but I discouraged them because I know that the owners are Muslim and I respect their beliefs.
